Why Choose Kobza Dental for Preventive Dentistry?

Dental Checkups & Cleanings

To make sure that your family's smiles stay healthy, we recommend seeing Dr. Kobza at least twice a year for checkups and cleanings. During your appointment at our Falls City office, a hygienist will clean your teeth and talk to you about your brushing and flossing habits. Then, Dr. Kobza will assess your oral health with a visual exam and X-rays. If he finds any signs of tooth decay, gum disease, or TMJ issues, he will be happy to talk to you about your treatment options. If you have any questions about what he recommends, don't hesitate to ask—we want our patients to always feel comfortable with the care they receive.

Periodontal Therapy

Periodontal disease, otherwise known as gum disease, is actually the most common dental problem in the entire world, and it’s even the leading cause of adult tooth loss here in the U.S. It is a bacterial infection of the gums, roots of the teeth, and the bone that supports them, and fortunately, our team is able to completely eliminate it using periodontal therapy. Utilizing screenings at your regular checkups and a deep cleaning that targets your smile below the gum line, we’ll make sure this global issue never has a chance to harm you or your family’s smiles.

Dental Sealants

With a dental sealant, we can place an invisible barrier on a tooth in order to protect it from harmful plaque, food particles, and bacteria that can lead to cavities. Sealants are made of a plastic-based substance, and we typically only apply them to the back teeth, as these are the most likely to develop cavities (especially in children). They only take minutes to put on and can easily provide years of complete cavity protection.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride is a mineral that is found in many food items that helps strengthen the teeth against both decay and cavities, which is why it is often added to toothpaste and public water sources. To help give your family’s smiles a little bit of extra protection between appointments, we can provide you with a topical fluoride treatment at every checkup and cleaning. It only takes a few minutes, is completely painless, and it will help keep everyone cavity-free!

Oral Cancer Screening

Last year alone, nearly 50,000 people were diagnosed with oral cancer, and sadly, many will not survive the next five years simply because the disease was caught too late. Oral cancer is actually very treatable when detected early, which is why Dr. Kobza recommends that all adults should have at least one oral cancer screening per year. To make life easier, this is included in and performed, using VELscope® Technology, as part of your regular checkups, making sure you’re never caught off-guard by this disease.

Nightguards for Grinding

As many as one in three people are currently suffering from bruxism, which is a condition where a person unconsciously clenches their jaw and grinds their teeth while they sleep. Left unaddressed, this condition can severely wear down the teeth, eventually causing them to break altogether! To help a patient with bruxism, we can have them wear what is called a nightguard to bed. This small, custom-made mouthguard will keep the teeth protected by placing a firm barrier between them, preventing any grinding.

Children’s Dentistry

We’re proud to say that our team is truly excellent with children! Dr. Kobza is a father of five himself, so he’ll know just how to take care of your little one and make sure they always enjoy calm, cool, and relaxing appointments. He’ll help protect your child’s teeth from cavities and guide their oral development so they can grow up to have a strong, healthy smile.
